INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCE ON “CULTURE OF NOMADIC PEOPLES OF CENTRAL ASIA”

International Institute for Central Asian Studies (IICAS) organized an international conference on “Culture of Nomadic Peoples of Central Asia”, approved dedicated to the memory of the outstanding researcher of Central Asia Anatoly Maksimilanovich Mandelshtam (21-24, pill November 2007, healing Samarkand).
About 50 scholars from Azerbaijan, Iran, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Pakistan, Russia, Tajikistan, Turkey and Uzbekistan attended the Conference.
The conference programme contained the following three sections:
1. The origins of nomadic cultures and the early nomads of Central Asia.
2. The Huns and Turks of Central Asia
3. The culture of medieval societies and ethnology of Central Asian peoples.
In the framework of cultural programme of the conference participants and guests were familiarized with historical and archeological monuments of Samarkand and Bukhara.
