On 12 March 2024, at the headquarters of the International Institute for Central Asian Studies (IICAS), the Director of the Institute met with a delegation from the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Tajikistan, headed by Mr Abdusalomov Mirzosharif, Head of the Department for the Protection and Use of Historical and Cultural Heritage. Mr Abdusalomov noted the developing active and fruitful cooperation with IICAS, mentioning the joint work on a number of projects, among them the preparation of nomination dossiers for inclusion in the UNESCO World Heritage List of the monuments of "Ancient Huttal", Zarafshan-Karakum and Fergana-Syrdarya corridors of the Silk Road. Representatives of the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Tajikistan informed about the state programmes on tourism development, preservation and conservation of historical and cultural heritage sites. During the meeting, the parties discussed possible areas of long-term co-operation, including potential involvement of international partners.
