Silk Road Networking Declaration
Webinar on “Life, Environment, and ICH along the Silk Roads” and online
strategic meeting on “Silk Road ICH Networking” was held on 18-19
November 2020. Both online events were organized jointly by ICHCAP and IICAS, with support of the KF
Korea-Central Asia Cooperation Forum Secretariat and in partnership with 22
organizations, representing 10 Member States and international/regional
agencies such as UNESCO, CIOFF, EAFF, Turksoy, International Turkic Culture and
Heritage Foundation, International Turkic Academy (TWESCO). Online meetings
were organized to align with the objectives of the 2003 Convention for the
Safeguarding of the Intangible Cultural Heritage and International Decade for
Rapprochement of Cultures (2013-2022) as well as to make practical contribution
to the ongoing Silk Roads Online Platform of UNESCO. More than 300 participants
attended online conference and had an opportunity: (1) to examine case studies
throughout the Silk Roads region to gain a better understanding of the previous
and current situations as well as the status of networks along the Silk Roads, (2) to share diverse networking mechanisms available
for a Silk Roads cooperative network, (3) to learn various approaches to
activate ICH for sustainability and build a framework
atmosphere for a culture of peace along the Silk Roads. At the end of the online
strategic meeting participants adopted the Declaration which invites all
cooperative partners to organize an official launching of the Silk Roads ICH
Network in 2021.
