A word ‘Silk’ in the title of festival is not only the silk cloth, approved but also the variety of entire handicrafts along the Great Silk Road. It is a personification of the craftsmen’s wishes to show their talent and beauty of the Uzbek national goods to the whole world. A word ‘Spices’ means the Uzbek rich national cuisine, which is impossible to imagine without the aromatic herbage and spices.
This year in the frame of the festival the fashion show, the demonstration of schools of Bukhara miniatures and Gijduvan ceramics, Bukhara craftsmen of embossing and needlework, the hand weaving of the silk cloth (ikat), silk carpet, golden embroidery and jewelry will be performed.
The main acts of festival will take place at the famous architectural complex of Lyabi-khauz, where the fair of craftsmen from all regions of Uzbekistan and abroad will be organized.
The inauguration will start from the festal carnival parade called ‘The Caravan of Miracles’. The participants of festival, guests and folklore collectives will go from the architectural complex of Poi Kalyan to Lyabi-khauz. All comers will be able to join it.
The bright palette of national costumes, dances will be represented at the festival, and above all tourists and foreign guests will acquaint themselves with traditions of craftsmen of every region of Uzbekistan. Quite a number of interesting musical performances helping guests to learn more about our sun country are planned in the broad programme.
In addition, the local people and guests of the city will be able to taste the most various national cuisine cooked by the culinary experts of the Uzbek cooking. In the very centre of the old part of the city there will be an exhibition and sale of handmade goods of the national craftsmen.
In the frame of festival on the 28th of May the International Scientific-practical conference on ‘Attraction of Foreign Investments, New Technologies and Innovations in Bukhara – as a factor of development of tourism and service infrastructure, and also preservation and use of the world cultural heritage’.
The festival will be completed with the grand gala concert in the very heart of the old city – Poi Kalyan square. The programme of concert will be shows of performers, theatrical performance ended with the colourful fireworks.
