Branches of IICAS

On June 30, 2020, the IICAS branch was officially opened in Almaty city, the Republic of Kazakhstan. Nurbol Baimukhanov was appointed director of the branch. The main function of the branch is to represent and protect the interests of the Institute in the territory of the Republic of Kazakhstan. At the moment negotiations on obtaining diplomatic status for the branch in Kazakhstan are continuing.

 

The branch of IICAS in Almaty is actively working, but has not yet received diplomatic status. At the moment the following steps are being taken to obtain accreditation:

- negotiations are underway with representatives of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Kazakhstan;

- • A meeting with representatives of the Presidential Administration of the Republic of Kazakhstan is pending.

Despite the lack of funding, the branch carries out research work by Nurbol Baimukhanov, director of the branch. He is engaged in the discovery of a settlement in Eastern Kazakhstan, and issues related to the northern routes of the Great Silk Road. In addition, anthropological studies based on the obtained DNA samples are being conducted.
