New elements in the UNESCO Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity and Register for Good Safeguarding Practices

New elements in the UNESCO Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity and Register for Good Safeguarding Practices

The 16th session of the Intergovernmental Committee for the Safeguarding of the Intangible Cultural Heritage, which was held online from 13 to 18 December 2021, inscribed 39 new elements to the Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity and 5 new elements to the Register of Good Safeguarding Practices under the UNESCO Convention on Safeguarding of the Intangible Cultural Heritage.  From IICAS’s Member States following 4 elements inscribed to the Representative List: Falconry, a living human heritage (Kazakhstan, Republic of Korea, Kyrgyz Republic, Mongolia and Pakistan), Falak (Tajikistan), Husn-i Hat, traditional calligraphy in Islamic art in Turkey (Turkey) and Bakhshi art (Uzbekistan). Following two elements from IICAS’s Member States were included to the Register of Good Safeguarding Practices: National programme to safeguard the traditional art of calligraphy in Iran (Islamic Republic of Iran) and Nomad games, rediscovering heritage, celebrating diversity (Kyrgyz Republic).
