of International Symposium on "Expanding the Horizons of Cooperation among the Nation States of Central Asia, Azerbaijan and Türkiye: The Silk Roads - UNESCO Transnational Serial Nominations” (held November 8-10, 2022, in Samarkand, Republic of Uzbekistan)


International Turkic Culture and International Institute for Central Asian Studies with scientific support from the Center for Silk Roads Historical and Cultural Heritage Studies and Propagation (Azerbaijan) on November 9-10, 2022, in Samarkand, Republic of Uzbekistan, within the framework of the Summit of the Organization of Turkic States, held an International Symposium on "Expanding the Horizons of Cooperation among the Nation States of Central Asia, Azerbaijan and Türkiye: The Silk Roads - UNESCO Transnational Serial Nominations."
The International Symposium was opened by the keynote address of Her Excellency Gunay Efendiyeva President of International Turkic Culture and Heritage Foundation. After the keynote address, a solemn presentation of the book entitled "Azerbaijan on the Silk Road", published within the framework of the "Countries of the Turkic World on the Silk Road” project of the International Turkic Culture and Heritage Foundation, was held by the Symposium Organizers, by the co-authors of this book in attendance, and by the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Azerbaijan to the Republic of Uzbekistan.
Representatives of the diplomatic missions of the Republics of Azerbaijan, Kyrgyzstan and Türkiye, as well as the heads and leaders of such international organizations as the Organization of Turkic States (OTS), the Parliamentary Assembly of Turkic States (or the TURKPA), the International Organization of Turkic culture (TÜRKSOY), the International Turkic Academy, the International Institute for Central Asian Studies (IICAS), as well as the Interim Director of the Ya. Gulyamov Institute of Archeology – all attended the first part of the Symposium and delivered their welcoming addresses.
The session convened at its venue the national coordinators and international experts being members of the working groups of various Silk Roads Transnational Serial Nominations. The national experts of Kazakhstan, Kyrgyz Republic, Azerbaijan, and Director of IICAS, Mr. Dmitriy Voyakin, delivered a number of scientific talks and reports on the activities of the corresponding Nation Sates and organizations along the lines of preparation and promotion of the Silk Roads Transnational Serial Nominations for inscription in the UNESCO World Heritage List.
Summarizing the results of the Symposium, a Resolution was approved, whose provisions urged competent and relevant governmental authorities and bodies of the Nation States to actively assist in the promotion of Silk Roads Transnational Serial Nominations, including the Silk Roads Water Routes, and also acknowledged the conspicuous accomplishments of IICAS and the International Turkic Culture and Heritage Foundation in implementation of the Silk Roads related projects.
