Dr. Laura A. Tedesco, Cultural Heritage Program Manager of the U.S. Department of State and Ms. Elvia Valle, Cultural Affairs Officer of the U.S. Embassy in Tashkent and Mr. Sardor Gaziev, Cultural Affairs Assistant of the U.S. Embassy in Tashkent were warmly hosted at the headquarters of the International Institute for Central Asian Studies (IICAS) on the 11 September 2022.

The visit was paid in the framework of Dr. Tedesco's tour across Central Asian cities and heritage sites. Reputation of IICAS as a unique research platform in Central Asia and beyond served another motivational factor considering Dr. Tedesco's extensive experience in Central Asia and Afghanistan in the fields of archaeology and heritage management.

A comprehensive overview of the Institute's scope of operations was followed by details on most remarkable achievements. Special focus was made on supporting researchers and practitioners through the biannual grant program. Books and publications were another topic for discussion.

Extent of cooperation with the US experts and instructions was one of the matters discussed.

A fruitful meeting ended with a traditional photo at the Institute's entrance.
