The International Institute for Central Asian Studies
(IICAS) is pleased to announce the release of the monograph "Experience of
Scientific Restoration and Conservation of Historic and Cultural Monuments in
Central Asia" by Lyudmila Dubrovskaya. The publication was prepared within
the framework of a biannual grant project of IICAS, positively reviewed and
approved by the Academic Council and the General Assembly of IICAS in 2020.
The monograph summarizes the many years of experience
in the restoration and conservation of cultural heritage properties,
accumulated by the team of the Research and Experimental Laboratory (NIEL)
formed in 1980 as part of the Kazproektrestavratsiya institute, which in 1993 was
renamed to the Research and Development Institute of the Monuments of Material
Culture, and in 2006 transformed into "KazNII on the problems of cultural
heritage of nomads".
The book contains an overview of the key activities
related to restoration and conservation of monumental heritage, carried out by
NIEL specialists, who have accumulated significant experience in the
conservation of authentic materials. In some cases, well-known techniques were
used, adapted to local conditions; in other cases, innovative, experimental know-hows
of the Institute were being applied.
In addition, the monograph contains materials on the
survey and study of the monuments of Uzbekistan and Kyrgyzstan.
The soft copy of the publication is available for

printed edition will be prepared for distribution in the soonest time.
