Within the framework of the Memorandum of Understanding on Academic and Research Cooperation concluded between IICAS and Pavol Jozef Šafárik University in Košice (Slovakia), Martin Kundrát, Associate Professor of the Center for Interdisciplinary Biosciences and a renowned specialist in vertebrate paleontology, visited Uzbekistan. The purpose of the visit is to conduct preliminary research and locate prospective areas for detailed field study. It should be noted that according to the results of archival and bibliographic research carried out by Dr. Kundrát, the Surkhandarya province was determined among the most promising for the search for the remains of ancient vertebrates. The field trip was carried out, inter alia, with the support of the Embassy of the Republic of Slovakia in the Republic of Uzbekistan. Following the completion of the field mission His Excellency the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Slovakia Mr. Jan Bory visited the headquarters of IICAS. The prospects of further academic and research cooperation were in the focus of the discussion, which was held in a warm and friendly atmosphere.
