The 3rd International Conference on “Memory Institutions, Book and Reading in the Information Society” for CIS Member States was organized in Bishkek (Kyrgyzstan) in 25-26 May 2023, The main organizers were the National Historical Museum of the Kyrgyz Republic, the Russian Committee of the UNESCO “Information for All” Program and the Interregional Center for Library Cooperation. The conference was attended by heads and specialists of museums of history and national libraries of Azerbaijan, Armenia, the Republic of Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, the Russian Federation, Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan, as well as representatives of international scientific and public organizations. During intensive two-day scientific conference, participants had an opportunity to share the results of their initiatives and research on the application of digital technologies in museums and libraries and the challenges associated with it. Of particular interest was the report of the IICAS representative at the plenary session regarding the potential challenges associated with the introduction of technologies based on artificial intelligence. Following sections were organized within the framework of the conference: (1) Popularization of historical and cultural heritage in the digital age: the experience of the CIS countries; (2) Libraries and support for reading culture in the digital world; (3) Reading and education in the digital age; (4) Memory institutions in modern digital society: approaches and practices; (5) Literary and cultural heritage in the information society; (6) Promotion of reading culture among children and youth: topical issues and modern methods of work. As a result of the conference, a resolution was adopted recommending the development of network cooperation between museums, libraries, archives and higher educational institutions of the CIS countries on the experience of introducing digital technologies.
