The Conference of “Iran and Central Asia in the Mirror of Tangible and Intangible Cultural Heritage of Mongol and Ilkhanid Era, alongside of the Silk Road” was held on 1st of June in the Institute of Political and International Studies (IPIS) with the participation of researchers, scholars and diplomats and in the related field.

The proposal to hold the conference as well as its topic were presented and approved at the 22nd session of the Academic Council of IICAS in February 2020 in Bern, Switzerland.

Out of 30 articles submitted for the conference by researchers and practitioners from Georgia, Germany, Iraq, Mongolia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Iran, Uzbekistan and Pakistan 13 relevant papers were accepted.

The opening session, where welcoming speeches were delivered by Ms. Raefipour (executive coordinator of the conference), Dr. Muhammad Hassan Shaykh al-Islami (President of IPIS), Dr. Dmitriy Voyakin (Director of IICAS), Mrs. Giannandre (Officer-in-Charge of UNESCO Tehran Cluster Office), Dr. Khosray Noziri (Secretary General of the Economic Cooperation Organization) was followed by two panel sessions. The first panel session was dedicated to tangible and intangible heritage of Iran in Ilkhanid era”, while the other one focused on traces of Ilkhanid Heritage on the Silk Road.

Additionally, the agenda included official visits to the Center for the Great Islamic Encyclopedia and Eco Cultural Institute (ECI) in Tehran.
