The
International Institute of Central Asian Studies (IICAS) is pleased to announce
that the XI International Archaeological Field School will take place in two stages:
The I stage – will be held from July 10
to July 25, 2024 in Shamkir, Republic of Azerbaijan;
The II
stage – will be held from August 13 to 26, 2024 in Bolgar, Republic of
Tatarstan, Russia, at the facilities of the Bolgar State Historical and
Architectural Museum–Reserve.
The
organizers of the XI International Archaeological School are jointly:
- Kazan
(Volga Region) Federal University;
- Institute
of Archeology named after A. Kh. Khalikov of the Academy of Sciences of the
Republic of Tatarstan;
- Bolgar
State Historical and Architectural Museum-Reserve;
-
International Institute for Central Asian Studies (IICAS);
- Institute
of Archaeology, Ethnography and Anthropology of the National Academy of
Sciences of Azerbaijan.
As part of the stages of the School, sections will be organized in the following scientific areas:
-Field study on conservation and restoration of architectural objects
-Field
study on processing and preservation of ceramic material
-Field study on conservation and restoration of archaeological metallic material
-Modern
field methods of fixation and 3D modeling of archaeological structures and
objects
-Paleoanthropology (groups for beginners and advanced)
-Archaeozoology
(groups for beginners and advanced)
-Archaeobotany
and paleosurface science
The end of each stage will be marked by the International Youth Scientific and Practical Conference “Interdisciplinary Research in Archeology: Achievements and Challenges” - July 24, 2024 (Shamkir, Republic of Azerbaijan) and August 25, 2024 (Bolgar, Russia).
