From October 6 to October 14, IICAS, in partnership with the National Commission of the Republic of Kazakhstan for UNESCO and IСESCO, conducted a capacity-building program for diplomatic workers. 8 employees of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Kazakhstan attended lectures on the main UNESCO instruments in the field of cultural heritage, including conventions and programs. The knowledge was consolidated in practical classes, which were held on the basis of the Samarkand – crossroads of cultures, Historical Center of Bukhara, Historical Center of Shakhrisyabz and Itchan Kala World Heritage sites and Savitsky State Museum of Arts of the Republic of Uzbekistan. At the end of the program, the participants were awarded certificates.

The project developed a Reference Manual "Diplomacy and Cultural Heritage Management" on UNESCO's tools for the preservation of cultural heritage.
